Oracle Arena Celebrates America Recycles Day

Oakland, CA – November 11, 2015

On November 14, 2015, Oracle Arena will celebrate America Recycles Day with not one, but two events dedicated to promoting sustainable and environmentally conscious principles. One of the two promotions occurring at Oracle Arena is the ‘AEG Oakland America Recycles Day Clothes Drive,’ which will be running from November 2nd through November 17th. AEG staff is donating new and gently used clothing which will be distributed to local churches and nonprofits for underprivileged Oakland families.

The second promotion is one that involves a collaborative effort between AEG Facilities Oakland, the Golden State Warriors, and Levy Restaurants. The ‘Warriors vs. Brooklyn Nets: Get Caught Recycling’ event will take place from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM on November 14th as the Warriors face the Brooklyn Nets right here at Roaracle! ‘Green Champions’ from AEG, Warriors, and Levy will patrol the arena before, during, and after the November 14th basketball game to identify fans caught in the act of recycling. When fans are caught recycling, they will win a prize. Prizes include signed Warriors memorabilia, Warriors merchandise, and concession food gift certificates.

“We are thrilled to participate in America Recycles Day here at Oracle Arena,” notes Krystle Von Puschendorf, Sustainability Projects Manager. “It’s a great way for us to take advantage of our position in the community to raise awareness of environmental issues and inspire people to take action.”

Oracle Arena joins 33 AEG Facilities’ affiliated venues nationwide in celebrating America Recycles Day, a nationally-recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. This event is part of a national collaboration between AEG and Keep America Beautiful, the national nonprofit organization that organizes America Recycles Day.

“Recycling is an essential element of AEG’s work to reduce our environmental impact,” said John Marler, AEG’s Senior Director, Energy and Environment. “In addition to our ongoing efforts to promote recycling in our venues, we celebrate America Recycles Day because it gives us an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the importance of recycling and help our neighbors responsibly dispose of items that can be hard to recycle, like e-waste or clothing.”
