300+ Shoes & School Supplies Donated to Alameda County Families
To support families throughout Alameda County, the AEG Oakland Community Foundation organized a Back-to-School Shoe Giveaway and Health & Community Fair on Saturday, August 23. Held on the floor of the Oakland Arena, the event welcomed over 1,000 community members who had access to a wide range of valuable resources. Over 300 pairs of shoes were distributed to children at the event, generously provided by the AEG Oakland Community Foundation and Shoe Palace.
Alongside the shoe giveaway, attendees also received school supplies, free haircuts, eye exams, and access to essential support services. The event aimed to help local families prepare for the new school year in a safe and welcoming setting that emphasized health, education, and community connection.
The Health and Community Fair offered a variety of resources, including:
- Educational materials for students
- Complimentary haircuts
- Emergency preparedness tips
- Eye exams
- A fun zone featuring face painting and bounce houses
